The Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Internet Addiction in Secondary School Students in Torbat-e-Heydarieh

Abstract
The present research is a descriptive and correlational study in which the relationship between emotional intelligence and the tendency to interent addiction is investigated. The target population of this study included all second-grade boy students in Torbat-e-Heidariyeh city. The sample of the research was selected through a one-step cluster sampling method. First, a high school was selected and then the sample was selected randomly from among high school students in this school. Data collection tools in this research were two questionnaires: 1. The Bar-Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, which is the first cross-cultural questionnaire for assessing emotional intelligence. 2- The Young Internet Addiction Test, one of the most authoritative tests for online addiction testing, which was developed by Dr. Kimberly Young. Based on the findings and results of this study, it can be concluded that the F-statistic and its corresponding significance with a value less than 0.05 showed that the fitted model is 95%. The emotional intelligence subcategories can explain 80% of the change in the rate of addiction to the Internet
