Abstract

The present paper is devoted to the significant role of electronic learning technologies in supporting and facilitating lifelong learning and workforce development. With the industries and technology continuously developing and changing, the continuous development of skills is emerging as a requirement in ensuring the competitiveness of the workforce. Learning management systems (LMS), MOOCs, and technologies that use AI are examples of different
e-learning technologies that offer flexible, accessible, and customised learning to the workforce. The current study is based on the impact of e-learning technologies on skill development, job satisfaction, productivity and career development. During the research, it has been discovered that skill enhancement has increased by 30 %, job satisfaction has increased by 25 %, and productivity has increased by 20 %. Further, one out of every four participants have experienced career advancement due to e-learning. Lastly, it has been discovered that organisations offering
e-learning have seen their retention rate go up by 15%, and this goes to show that continuous learning predisposes employees to be more loyal. However, the lack of technology and digital literacy is shown to be the biggest obstacle to introducing e-learning to the organisation, as revealed by the current paper. The necessity of further studies related to the long-term impact of e-learning on career development and the impact that new technologies like AI can exert on the personalisation of the learning process are also highlighted. In general, the findings highlight the importance of increasing the role of e-learning as a tool for promoting lifelong learning and employee training.
