Abstract

This study examines the effect of digital learning technologies in social mobility and community development with particular attention to marginalized communities in South Asia. The rising popularity of e-learning tools, mobile apps, and other digital technologies presents an interesting platform for overcoming socio-economic inequalities. A mixed methods research design, based on quantitative survey data and qualitative interviews, was employed to examine the role of digital learning technologies in affecting income level, education, employment rate, and community involvement. The results of the study reveal a positive effect of digital learning technologies on improving education, creating jobs, and encouraging community participation. At the same time, some major barriers are discussed. The study highlights the need to tackle these issues through specific measures, including increased access to technology, improved digital literacy initiatives, and infrastructure improvement. The study concludes that digital tools can serve as a means for socio-economic empowerment, particularly in impoverished communities, but only insofar as the obstacles associated with digital access are overcome. Among the recommendations are equal access to digital technology, digital literacy education, and infrastructure improvement, particularly in underprivileged areas. In conclusion, the study recommends additional research on the socio-economic implications of digital tools and how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, may impact education.
