Factors affecting the success of IT projects using interpretive structural approach (Case Study: State Tax Administration of Kohgiluyeh)

Nowadays, information technology and information systems play an increasingly important role in the intelligence agencies. Organizations, institutions and large firms have sought to achieve greater competitive advantages in comparison with competitors, through the purchase, production and updating their information systems, and whereas the rate of success or failure in the IT industry is about 70%. In this regard, identifying main factors of success of the projects and classifying them in different places to discover the most effective factors and ultimately use them to improve the management of projects related to information technology are essential in modern organizations. The aim of this study was to identify and analyze the factors affecting the success of IT projects in the State Tax Administration of Kohkilooyeh. According to the experts this study, 14 the main factor affecting the success of the project are approved and were selected. In order to analyze the relationships between them and provide appropriate structural model, the interpretive structural modeling was used. According to the analysis conducted, the results showed that, in the success of IT projects, as conceptual model also indicates, the existence of appropriate infrastructure in relation to the project plays an important role. The second factor that plays the greatest impact on the success of IT projects, is the manager’s preparation for fund and design and deploy the system
