Abstract

The application of sustainable supply chain management is increasingly becoming a common approach for increasing efficiency, effectiveness, and resilience in an environment that is highly uncertain in terms of the global markets. In this research, the use of sustainable supply chain management approaches for the purpose of adaptation to the global market by means of green sourcing, resource efficiency, diversification of suppliers, regionalization, digital visibility, and flexibility is studied. An integrative conceptual framework is developed, linking the performance in sustainability to economic efficiency and supply chain resilience. The research further highlights the significance of regional adaptation and the adoption of circular practices as ways of minimizing costs and increasing competitiveness in the long run. The model proposed in this paper brings together all the elements needed to understand the interaction between sustainability and adaptation to global markets. The results indicate that organizations that combine environmental considerations with economic and adaptive competencies can increase supply reliability, decrease risk exposure, be more efficient with resources, and experience sustainable growth in their competitiveness.
