Addiction and psychological factors related to the ethology of social crime prevention

Abstract

Addiction is one of the major social harms and is the cause for the highest number of imprisonments in
Iran. Thus the study of the causes influencing its creation plays a major role in the control, prevention and
cure of other social phenomena.
Considering the fact that the role of family and social institutions like training institutions cannot always
follow the individual plus hereditary (genetic) and environmental coefficients impacting addiction are
generally out of the control of social workers and therapist, it is necessary that the psychological factors –
as the most controllable factors – affecting addiction be taken into account. And the share of the
individual’s will power and mindset, such as identity formation, excitement, mood and will power be
studied.
Thus the objective of the present research has been to identify the said factors of addiction. It is hoped
that our therapists will lay emphasis on these factors and find the most controllable factor in this field.
