profession scale (ATTP) questionnaire developed by Askar and Erden (1987) was administered to 50
male and female Iranian EFL teachers. The obtained data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and
Independent Sample t-test. The findings revealed that Iranian EFL prospective teachers have positive
attitude towards the profession of teaching. It was also realized that teachers’ educational level has
significant affected teachers’ attitudes; that is, teachers with BA degree had more positive attitude
towards their profession. Similarly, a significant gender difference was observed in their attitudes towards
the profession. That is females had more positive attitude towards the profession of teaching than males.
