This research analyzes the impact of additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing, on the customizability of industrial products. It assesses the efficacy of different AM technologies in producing custom components and products with respect to design variability, low volume production efficiency, and supply chain considerations. By conducting a literature review and designing a framework through case study investigation, this study aims to illustrate the benefits and challenges of AM industrial customization, particularly its responsiveness to client specifications and driven innovations. The results highlight the architectural relevance of AM characteristics in industries with highly variable product requirements and customization needs.
