Abstract

This research paper investigates the pivotal role of universities in cultivating and sustaining regional innovation ecosystems. The objective is to identify and analyze the mechanisms through which universities contribute to innovation, including knowledge creation, technology transfer, talent development, and entrepreneurial support. The methodology involves a comprehensive literature review (2000-2021) focusing on case studies and theoretical frameworks such as the Triple Helix model. Findings indicate that proactive university engagement, robust intellectual property management, and strong industry linkages are paramount. Performance evaluation demonstrates superior regional economic growth and startup formation in areas with strong university-led innovation. This paper offers actionable insights for policymakers and academic institutions seeking to maximize their regional impact.
